A new private university is set to be established in Yei town and will be called Yei University.

The institution will be located at the former compound of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in Yei.

The announcement was made by the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, who said the initiative aims to expand access to higher education in the area.

He noted that the government will begin the necessary arrangements to ensure the university becomes operational and ready to admit students once preparations are completed.
